Procurement is facing sharper scrutiny because budgets are tighter, oversight is stronger, fraud risk is higher, and organizations are expected to prove fairness, value, and compliance with clear evidence. A process that seems reasonable is not enough when decisions must be defended to auditors, regulators, boards, funders, and the public. When procurement is not assurance ready, the consequences show up fast through adverse audit findings, delayed projects, supplier disputes, investigations, reputational damage, and financial leakage caused by weak controls and poor documentation.
